2026年4月、熊本地震から10年が経ちます。

地震の直後は、報道やネット上では様々な情報が飛び交い、どれが本当で嘘なのか、溢れる情報は更なる混乱を招き、自分の目で現場を確認しようと地元の地域や震源地であった場所、報道から漏れ見落とされたような場所をカメラを持って歩きました。

当時、まだ混乱が残り、気持ちのどこかに残痕がまどろむような中で、感覚ごと焼き付けたような直接的な写真は自分で見ることすら躊躇いがありました。

10年後の今、あの時のショックや違和感などのいろんな感情や感覚、感触が抜け落ちて、頭の記憶には像だけが残る不思議な感覚です。

その時に撮影した30本のフィルムの中から、4月本日〜30日までの間、写真を投稿します。

現在、別の写真をまとめるための作業に集中しており、時間的、金銭的に物理的な展示はできなかっため、オンライン写真展としての開催することにしました。

In April 2026, it will be ten years since the Kumamoto earthquakes.

In the immediate aftermath, a flood of information circulated through the media and online—so much so that it was difficult to tell what was true and what was false. The overwhelming volume of information only deepened the confusion. Wanting to see the reality for myself, I walked through local communities, the areas near the epicenter, and places that seemed to have been overlooked by the media—at times carrying relief supplies from Minamata to Kumamoto, always with a camera in hand.

At the time, confusion still remained, and I found myself hesitant to present such direct photographs—images that seemed to imprint those complex sensations onto the film.

Now, ten years later, the shock, the sense of unease, and the various emotions and physical impressions I felt then have faded away. What remains in my mind is only the image itself, which feels strangely detached.

From the 30 rolls of film I shot at the time, I will be posting photographs from today through April 30.

At present, I am focusing on organizing another body of work, and due to limitations of time and budget, I was unable to hold a physical exhibition. Instead, I have decided to present this as an online photo exhibition.
